Family Math & Reading Night boosts fun and learning

Lots of Oley Valley families attended the elementary school’s Family Math & Reading Night on November 4 for a variety of fun activities. Students were greeted by special guest, Chippy Chipmunk, as they entered the event and were given their special book mission and passport for the evening.

Families began by exploring the gymnasium filled with Book Title Emoji Posters to try and fill their passport by correctly guessing book titles to earn their stickers. Bonus stickers could be added by finding Chippy, or Dr. Broskey and Mr. Savignano! Across the way, guest author Kathy Miller set up in the cafeteria to share her popular Chippy Chipmunk book series with readers. Families participated in our guest author’s reading and writing activities and purchased their favorite stories to take home.

There were stations, stations and more stations to explore! Families went word fishing, matched animal footprints, built tangram pieces, made bird feeders and created leaf rubbings, just to name a few.
