First-grade students in Shea Hazel’s class at Marion-Walker Elementary School came back to school from the holiday break with New Year’s resolutions in mind. It even led into a class activity that got them thinking about kid-friendly economics.

Hazel said her students learned about spending, saving and donating that tied into their New Year’s resolutions and the things they want to save money for. It also included ways to earn money. It ended with a Kahoot quit that Hazel said her students “loved.” Kahoot is a digital game-based learning platform for students.

“We talked about producers (and) consumers, and this Kahoot was a review of identifying goods (and) services,” Hazel said.
